Duo Agion The Agion Duo is a young, award winning musical ensemble from Berlin. Founded in 2022 by Agnieszka Skorupa and Semion Gurevich, the duo quickly gained recognition, winning three first prizes just a year later: at the International Handel Competition in Göttingen, and in expanded ensembles at both the Biagio Marini Competition in Neuburg an der Donau and the Early Music Ensemble Competition at Berlin’s University of the Arts, held in collaboration with “Kulturfeste im Land Brandenburg e.V.”
Their remarkable success is rooted in historically informed interpretations marked by high sensitivity, spontaneity, and a deep love of music. Known for their openness to diverse genres and styles, Agion Duo’s programs often feature lesser-known pieces, blending historical fidelity with a fresh spirit of experimentation. Both musicians incorporate elements of improvisation and instrumental theatre, presenting unique arrangements and original compositions.
The Agion Duo has already been featured in numerous prominent early music festivals and concert series, including the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Göttingen International Handel Festival, the Stagioni Festival in Montecastelli Pisano (with Giovanni Antonini and Dmitry Smirnov), the Klosterfest in Michaelstein, Berlin’s Friedenauer Kammerkonzerte, and the Brandenburger Festspiele. Their performances have been broadcast on NDR Radio and Television, BBC Radio 3, and Radio Poznań.
The duo draws profound artistic inspiration from musicians like Amandine Beyer, Vittorio Ghielmi, Avinoam Shalev, Martyna Pastuszka, Anna Fontana, and Olivier Fouré, and has received support through scholarships from Neustart Kultur Deutschland, the Paul Hindemith Society Berlin, and the Rheinsberg Music Academy’s Förderpreis.
