About us

Duo Agion

Duo Agion is a musical ensemble based in Berlin, formed by Agnieszka Skorupa and Semion Gurevich at the beginning of 2022.

The year 2023 is marked by their success at early music competitions: 1 prize at the Göttingen Händel Competition and 1 prize at the Biagio Marini Competition in Neuburg an der Donau (as Daimona Ensemble), Early Music Ensembles Competition at the UdK Berlin 2023 (The Late Train). Duo Agion are scholarship holders of Neustart Kultur Germany, the Paul Hindemith Society, and the Förderpreis of the Rheinsberg Music Academy.

Their historically informed performances are characterised by sensitivity, spontaneity and fiery expressiveness. A willingness to experiment and openness to different genres and styles is combined with a curiosity about rarely performed pieces. During their performances they incorporate elements of improvisation and instrumental theatre, often feature their own arrangements and compositions.

They have been invited to perform at numerous prestigious early music events, including the Early Music Festival in Utrecht in 2023, International Handel Festival in Göttingen in 2024, Stagioni Festival in Montecastelli Pisano (with Giovanni Antonini and Dmitry Smirnov), the Klosterfest in Michaelstein, the Friedenauer Kammerkonzerte in Berlin and the Brandenburger Festspiele. Their recordings have been broadcast by NDR Radio and Television, BBC Radio 3, and Radio Poznan.

The Duo received artistic impulses from prominent musicians such as Amandine Beyer, Vittorio Ghielmi, Avinoam Shalev, Martyna Pastuszka, Anna Fontana und Olivier Fourés.
